 “Wake up,” A French-accented male voice orders me. “Wake up,” he says with more force.

 I open my eyes, and I am still in the room I had been sleeping in, only the lights are on. Marcellus Lafayette is standing over me with his cold hand covering my mouth. I try to struggle and scream, but he tightens his grip.

 “Hold still,” He whispers. “I am not here to hurt or take you,” he says.

 I look up at him with confusion.

 “I am going to remove my hand now,” he says. “Please don’t scream or mind link your mates. Just let me speak,” His smooth voice is soothing and polite, so I nod. He lifts his hand from my mouth and sits on the edge of the bed. 

 “What are you doing here?” I wonder.

 He looks me up and down and wrinkles his nose, “Pregnant, huh?” He huffs. 

 “Yeah,” I respond without enthusiasm. 

 “You don’t sound happy about it,” Marcellus remarks.

 “I don’t know how to feel right now,” I mutter. “What do you need to speak to me about?” I ask.

 “Truth,” He responds. “Beware of the wolves, Amber. They are not your allies.”

 “I am a wolf,” I say with narrowed eyes.

 “Yes, you are,” He nods. “Be careful who you trust. Even those close to you are not on your side.”

 I glance at the door and wonder if he means my mates.

 “I don’t mean you, mates,” he says.

 I feel a painful buzz in my head and realize that Lilith has been silent, “What did you do to my wolf?”

 “She’s fine,” Marcellus replies and rises from the bed.

 The buzz in my head becomes more intense as I hear footsteps coming down the hallway. I hear my mates’ voices, and they sound concerned.

 “If you want to know the truth about the fall of the royals, your ancestors. Come find me,” Marcellus says.

 “Where?”

 He smirks, “You know where.” 

 “Amber!” Tyler slams the door open with Skylar just behind him.

 I look at where Marcellus has just been, and he has vanished. 

 “Are you okay?” Tyler rushes towards me, kneels in front of the bed, and cups my face in his hands.

 I slowly nod.

 Skylar sniffs the air and looks down at me, “Our wolves were freaking out because they couldn’t contact Lilith.”

 ‘I’m here,’ Lilith speaks up.

 “She’s fine,” I reply.

 “You look like you just saw a ghost,” Tyler leans in and kisses the top of my nose.

 I wonder if I should tell them about Marcellus, as they don't seem to know he was just here. “I am fine,” I assure Tyler and roll onto my back.

 Tyler sits on the bed and touches my belly, “How are our pups?”

 I shrug, “I guess they are alright.”

 Skylar moves towards us. His blue eyes look black in the low light of the room. “Do you even care about them?”

 I look away from him. I feel guilty for not having the best reaction to the news that I am pregnant. I don’t hate my impending pups, but I am not overly joyful about them, either. “I don’t hate them,” I finally answer.

 Skylar scoffs.

 I sit up and glare at him, “I am sorry I am not jumping for joy at being pregnant. You guys knew my feelings about it. I don’t know how to feel,” I argue. “I want to feel the same joy, but- “

 “All you care about is being a warrior,” Skylar points out.

 “Well, that’s what I worked for the last seven years, and then you two came along- “I shout. “Everything changed overnight, and I am still dealing with it. I- “I trail off as tears well up.

 “Hey,” Tyler wraps his arms around me. “We are in this together. Right, Skylar?” He growls at his twin.

 Skylar shrugs, “I don’t know.”

 I bury my face in Tyler’s shoulder and let him comfort me while Skylar walks out of the room. 

 “He needs some air,” Tyler excuses his brother. “But I am here,” He smiles at me, and I melt into him. “I love you,” He kisses my forehead. “Did you get enough sleep? It’s been three hours.”

 “I guess,” I shrug as Marcellus’s visit repeats in my head. I want to find him and learn what he has to say. 

 “Want to watch a movie or something?” Tyler looks at me, hopefully. “Uncle Carlton says we can order pizza.”

 “I kind of want Chinese food,” I reply.

 “That does sound good,” Tyler laughs and stands up.

 “Is everything alright?” Carlton steps into the room and looks at me. “Did you have a bad dream or something? The boys were chilling with their cousin and then darted this way.”

 “No, no bad dream,” I shrug.

 “Is there a Chinese restaurant we can order from?” Tyler asks him.

 “Yeah,” Carlton nods, “Don’t you remember Imperial Dragon?”

 “Oh, right,” Tyler laughs. “I guess it’s been a while.”

 “We have an account there,” Carlton says and looks at me. “Did you sleep well? Is the bed comfortable enough?”

 “Yeah, it’s great,” I nod. 

 He presses his lips together, “Good. Ty, Imperial Dragon has a website. Just order from there and use the code CaBrks. They’ll know where to bring it.”

 “Thanks, Uncle Carlton,” Tyler says as he pulls his phone from his pocket as Carlton leaves. He sits down, “What do you want?” He says while typing something in.

 “I don’t know,” I laugh and lean into him.

 He kisses my forehead, “Hey, don’t get upset about Skylar. You know how he is. 

All of this, everything is new to us too.”

 “I understand,” I say and look at Tyler’s phone. 

 He passes it to me, “That’s the menu, order whatever you want.”

 “Where are you and Skylar staying?” I ask.

 “We both have our own rooms here,” He responds, “But I would rather stay here with you.”

 “You can if you want,” I smile at him. 

 He kisses me again and giggles.

 I scroll through the phone and settle on coconut shrimp with chicken chow mein and a pupu platter. I hand the phone back to Tyler as my stomach starts to rumble.

 “Ooo, you picked some good stuff,” He laughs and taps on the phone. “It should be here in thirty minutes,” He grins.

 “What did you order?” I ask.

 “Sesame beef and wonton soup,” He laughs.

 I pat the bed and invite him to lie next to me. Tyler kicks off his shoes and cuddles up against me. He puts his arm around me.

 “We’ll figure it out, Amber,” Tyler lays his head on my shoulder.

 “I don’t hate the pups, Tyler,” I confess. “I just- “

 “I know,” He responds. “It will be okay,” He whispers.

 We lay quietly for a few minutes, relishing each other’s presence. The scent of the forest makes me look up as Skylar steps into the room. 

 “Is there room for one more?” He asks.

 I slowly nod.

 Skylar smiles, kicks off his shoes, and sits on the other side. I cuddle into both of my mates. Tyler picks up a remote and turns on a large-screen TV I hadn’t noticed earlier. He settles on Futurama, and we all watch until our food arrives.

 We all enjoy a night of eating Chinese food and watching Futurama and Family Guy. Both of my mates choose to sleep in the room with me. After some lovemaking, we all fall asleep. I wake up in between my mates as I have Marcellus’s visit on my mind. I manage to unwind myself from my mates and rise from the bed. I walk over to the windows and look down at the sparkling city. I am very tempted to leave and find Marcellus on my own.

 ‘Don’t do it,’ Lilith speaks up. ‘Tell your mates.’

 ‘Tell them what?’ I huff.

 ‘About Marcellus,’ She replies. ‘They should hear it too.’

 ‘Do you know what Marcellus is talking about?’ I ask Lilith.

 ‘No,’ She replies. ‘I am as old as you are.’

 I turn and see both sets of eyes open and staring back at me. I take a deep breath and step toward the bed.

 “What’s up?” Tyler asks.

 I sit beside him. “I need to go find Marcellus Lafayette,” I blurt out.
