Amber

 

 I am happily settled between the twins watching a movie when they both stiffen. They exchange a look and Tyler sighs. “What’s wrong?”

 Skylar starts unwinding himself from me and stands up, “We have to go talk to Beta Richard.” Tyler stands up also.

 “Why?” I ask.

 “What does it mater?” Skylar scoffs. “We will be right back.”

 “I am your mate and will be the Luna slash queen and I should know what you know,” I argue.

 Skylar narrows his eyes at me, “The Luna doesn’t need to know everything. Just stay here.”

 I look at Tyler, “Tyler?”

 Tyler sighs heavily. I know he is conflicted and ants to tell me what is going on but he also wants to go along with his dominant twin.

 “Tyler?” I say again.

 “Beta Richard wants us to go down to the cells to speak with the vampire,” He finally says and Skylar growls. “What?” He shrugs at his twin. “She has a right to know.”

 Skylar shakes his head, “Whatever.”

 I spring to my feet, “I’m coming with,” I say and jog into the closet to grab pants. I step out of the closet and the twins are waiting by the door. They are both wearing shirts now. “Okay,” I clap my hands and we leave the room. They are silent as we enter the elevator. I can sense Skylar fuming. ‘Why didn’t he want to tell me?’ I ask Lilith.

 ‘He’s protective of you,’ She answers.

 ‘The vampire is locked up. He’s not going to do anything that I can’t handle,’ I argue.

 ‘He’s just trying to protect you,’ Lilith repeats.

 Tyler laughs beside me.

 “What?” I look at him.

 “The conversation you are having with your wolf looks intense,” He points out a the elevator door opens.

 Skylar rushes off leaving Tyler and I behind. 

 “Oh,” I breath out as we saunter out and jog to catch up with Skylar.

 It takes a few minutes to reach the cells. Beta Richard is standing outside with Gamma Tony. Richard is pacing while puffing on a cigarette.

 “Where’s our Dad?” Skylar asks.

 “Still with your mom and sister,” Richard responds. “I think you two can handle this,” He states and looks at me. He flicks his cigarette away and opens the door. 

 The smell of mildew is thick in the air as we step inside. We are buzzed inside and walk into the inner part of the cell block. Richard leads us to a cell with a thick iron door. He opens it and the vampire is chained to the wall with silver. 

 Red eyes stare at us but I don’t sense malice. He is a somewhat handsome man with black hair. He is wearing a tattered pair of pants and white button up shirt stained with blood and dirt. There is something else I sense from him that I wasn’t expecting. A low growl comes from Lilith as I sense a wolf lurking within the vampire’s mind.

 “You have a wolf,” I blurt out.

 The vampire directs his eyes at me for a moment. “Figures the queen would know that,” He says in a soft voice with a slight accent to it. 

 “I didn’t sense a wolf,” Richard snorts.

 I look at the twins. “You sensed it too?” I ask and they both nod.

 Skylar steps towards the vampire, “Why did you try to kill my mother and sister?” He growls.

 “I did no such thing,” the vampire hisses. 

 “The one in black stood in the road and did something to cause the car to fly off the road,” I state.

 “Well, that wasn’t me,” the vampire sniffles. “I was just there to capture you.”

 My blood runs cold, “Why? Why do you fuckers want me so bad? I am nothing.”

 The vampire chuckles, “Nothing wouldn’t have been able to detect a long dormant wolf.”

 I look at the ground. 

 “Answer my mate’s question,” Tyler demands.

 “Monsieur Lafayette just wanted us to take you alive,” He mumbles.

 “Why?” I nearly yell. 

 The vampire tries to shrug. “I didn’t ask. I just did what Monsieur asked of me.”

 “You follow him blindly, huh?” Skylar scoffs.

 “Not blindly no,” The vampire replies.

 “Monsieur Lafayette, who is he?” I ask.

 “My master,” He replies. 

 “Did he make you?” I ask.

 “You could say that,” The vampires replies. “Or he saved my life and that of my wife. I owe him everything.”

 “So, he didn’t tell you why he wants me so bad?” I demand.

 “Again I didn’t ask,” The vampire replies. 

 “You know something,” Skylar steps in. “You told my beta something.”

 The vampire lets out a dry whistle. “Man, I’m thirsty,” He smacks his lips.

 “And if you ever want to drink again you’ll answer our questions,” I tell him.

 The vampire lifts an eyebrow, “You are going to let me out?” He snorts. “I thought you would just murder me like you did to my friends.”

 “I didn’t murder your friends,” I argue. “You attacked members of my pack, and I was defending them.”

 “Monsieur instructed us not to hurt you and yet you have no problem hurting us,” The vampire looks away from me. “Now, if you don’t mind I’m just going to hang here and starve to death.”

 I sense his wolf within. ‘Lilith,’ I call out.

 ‘On it,’ She responds. ‘Castor, Pollux and I will draw the wolf out.’

 I take a deep breath and feel a little surge of strength deep within myself. A weak whimper echoes and I know it’s the vampire’s wolf. “Tell us what you know. Tell us why your master tried to kidnap me,” I demand in my deep alpha tone.

 “Impossible,” I hear Richard huff behind me.

 I glance at the twins and they are standing shoulder to shoulder staring at the vampire. 

 ‘His name is Barabas,’ Lilith states.

 ‘The wolf?’ I ask.

 ‘The vampire,’ Lilith replies.

 “Barabas,” I say and the vampire gibes me a look of shock, “That’s your name isn’t it?” I tilt my head.

 “Yes,” Barabas answers slowly. “How did you-“ He pauses. “Right, you are the queen and they are the kings.”

 “Why did you master want to kidnap me?” I ask again using my tone.

 The vampire licks his dry lips, “I’m thirsty.”

 “Answer my question and I’ll get you something to drink,” I respond. 

 “Amber,” Tyler drawls.

 I ignore him and keep my faze fixed on Barabas, “Why did he try to kidnap me?”

 “Power,” Barabas huffs out. “Your blood is valuable. Monsieur Lafayette wants to harvest your blood to sell and use for himself.”

 “Gross,” I sneer. “I am not some god damned cow that can just be milked.”

 “He would have taken good care of you,” Barabas shrugs. “He takes care of everyone. I know you wolves think we are savage beasts with no class. You are the ones without class.”

 “Your master wants to milk me of my blood,” I snort.

 Barabas shrugs, “So, about that drink?”

 I look at the twins, “Call the hospital and ask them to send over a bag or two of blood.”

 “Why? We are just going to kill him,” Skylar grumbles.

 “We should let him go,” I suggest.

 “Amber,” Tyler counters.

 “What? We got what we needed from him,” I say.

 “But he is a filthy vampire,” Skylar argues. “My sister almost died because of him.”

 “He didn’t almost kill Corie,” I state. “It was his master. I think we should let him go.”

 “What?” Skylar shakes his head. He looks at Tyler, “Can you believe her?”

 “I agree,” Tyler smiles at me. “We let him go and maybe plant a tracking device in him and see where this Monsieur Lafayette is hiding.”

 Skylar opens his mouth for a moment and then nods, “That actually sounds like a good idea.”

 “Monsieur would kill me before I got anywhere close to home,” Barabas complains. “He’d know.”

 “How?” I ask.

 “I don’t know. I am just a low level vampire,” Barabas huffs. “Monsieur has been alive thousands of years and rumor has it that he is part demon or wizard or something. I don’t really know.” 

 “You don’t know a whole lot of anything, do you?” Skylar rolls his eyes.

 “Monsieur saved my wife and I during a bad flu so I am thankful to be alive,” Barabas tells us.

 “What’s you wife’s name?” I ask him.

 “Prudence,” Barabas responds.

 “And is she a wolf too?” I wonder.

 “No, Prudence was human before she was turned,” Barabas speaks. 

 “Did she know you were a wolf?” I ask.

 “Yeah,” Barabas nods. “I wasn’t anyone of note. My parents were kicked out of their pack so I was born a rogue. Monsieur finds individuals down on their luck and brings them into his coven. We are a family,” He sighs. “I am going to miss my friends.”

 “They shouldn’t have tried to kill our mate,” Skylar hisses coldly.

 “Look, I will tell you the approximate area that the coven is located but please don’t put tracking devices on me. Monsieur Lafayette will kill me or worse, he’ll kill Prudence or my daughter,” Barabas pleads. “I swear if you let me go I will not harm anyone in this pack.”

 “You tried to kill my mother,” Skylar growls.

 Barabas rolls his eyes, “Our task was to kidnap her,” He nods at me, “Unharmed. I and the other vampires had no interest in your mother.”

 Skylar growls.

 “Beta?” I hear Dr. Stevens behind us. 

 I turn and the doctor is holding to bags of blood.

 “I was told you needed blood,” The doctor states.

 “You could have sent someone else over,” Beta Richard chuckles.

 “I thought someone needed medical help,” Dr. Stevens says and stares at Barabas. “You aren’t giving it to the vamp, are you?”

 “That’s exactly what we are doing,” I say and grab the blood from the doctor. “Can we unchain Barabas?” I say to Richard.

 “No,” Richard growls.

 “I promise I won’t go nowhere,” Barabas says.

 “Unchain him, Richard,” Tyler speaks up.

 “You aren’t the alpha yet,” Richard argues.

 “Unchain the vampire, Richard,” Tyler hisses in his alpha tone. 

 I can’t help but smile at him. He always came off as more timid compared to Skylar. 

 “Guard!” Richard barks down the hall. “Bring me the keys!”

 Seconds later a guard shows up and tosses keys at Richard. He grumbles while unlocking the chains. Barabas collapses to the floor. I reach down to help him stand up. 

 Skylar tries to stop me but I brush him off. Barabas takes my hand and I lead him to an old wooden chair in the corner of the cell then hand him the bag of blood.

 “Thank you,” Barabas nods. He punctures the bag with his fangs and slurps up the contents like a Capri Sun. He gags slightly, “Cold blood. Not the most appetizing.”

 “So, are you going to help us?” Tyler asks.

 Barabas burps a little as he finishes the blood and reaches to for the other bag and I hand it to him. “Go to the old palace in the woods. There is a waterfall you must find and there behind it the coven lies,” He says in a prose.

 “Old palace?” I ask.

 Barabas nods. “Ask Dawna Milford where it is,” He grins and finishes the second bag. “So, can I go now? Pru is probably worried sick about me,” He stands up.

 “Sure,” Tyler nods.

 “Boys,” Richard huffs. “May I speak to you out here,” He gestures to the hall.

 “Why out there?” Skylar asks. 

 “Look, I think you should talk to your father before letting this scumbag go,” Richard gestures to Barabas. “He was involved with nearly killing your mother and sister.”

 “Again that wasn’t me,” Barabas argues. 

 “We are letting him go,” Skylar declares. 

 Richard sighs and throws his hands up.

 “Come on,” I beckon to Barabas. 

 Barabas grins and stands up. He follows us out of the Cells. “I can’t thank you enough, your majesty,” He bows to me.

 “Shh,” I look around. “Can you keep that on the down low. I don’t want people knowing about that. I am not exactly queen material.”

 Barabas lean in close to me causing the twins to growl, “You can deny who you are, your majesty.” He winks and then takes off running through the woods.

 “He’s getting away,” One of the guards shouts.

 “Let him go,” Tyler responds. “Make sure he leaves the territory.”

 I yawn and stretch out my arms.

 “Are you tired, babe?” Tyler laughs.

 I shrug.

 “We should get some rest,” Tyler wraps an arm around me. 

 Skylar flanks us, “We’ll deal with Dad’s wrath tomorrow.”

 Dr. Stephans walks out of the cell block with Richard.

 “How is Mom and Corie?” Tyler asks him.

 “Your Mom is just fine. She and your father were sleeping,” Dr. Stephans reports, “And Corie is slowly but surely getting better.”

 “Thanks,” Tyler nods and then turns to Richard, “We’ll tell our father about the vampire.”

 Richard shrugs, “I ain’t going to piss him off.”

 “Goodnight,” Skylar says to the beta.

 “Did you hear that Savannah found her second chance mate?” Richard asks.

 “Yeah,” I smile. “I guess my best friend Dewey is her mate.”

 “I heard he is a good guy,” Richard grins.

 “Dewey is a great guy,” I state. “I can personally vouch for him.”

 “I’m glad to hear that,” Richard sighs. “My baby girl deserves a good guy. Anyway, goodnight,” Richard states and walks away.

 “I thought Dewey was gay,” Skylar scoffs and starts walking toward the packhouse.

 “He’s bi,” I correct my mate. 

 

 Ten minutes later and we walk into our room. I immediately take off my clothes and am grabbed by Tyler who purrs seductively in my ear. Twenty minutes later and I collapse to the bed after having sex with the twins. I lie in between them with my hands on their chests. “Goodnight,” I say to them. 

 “I love you,” Tyler whispers.

 I stroke his cheek, “I love you Tyler,” I turn to Skylar, “I love you too.” I close my eyes and before long I am running through woods in wolf form with the silver twins chasing me.
