 "Dad!" Tyler yells out the door.

 There is no answer, and I poke my head out of the room as Dr. Stevens is walking down the hall. 

 "Have you seen our dad?" I ask.

 "Alpha Victor said he had to attend to something," The doctor responds and looks at Amber. "You are awake," he says with surprise.

 "We need to tell Dad what Amber just said," Tyler insists. "Are you sure it was Timmons?" He asks our mate.

 Amber nods, "Timmons."

 'Dad, where are you?' I mind link my father.

 'At the Cells, why?' He responds. 

 'Amber just woke up and told us that Alpha Timmons paid Cal to kidnap her,' I tell him.

 'Your brother just told me that,' He mumbles. 'I'll be right there. We just finished up with Walker.'

 I look at Tyler, who shrugs, "We should go find that Oliver asshole."

 "Why?" Tyler asks.

 "Duh, he is a Timmons," I respond.

 Tyler nods, "Right," He looks at Amber. "Sweetie, Skylar, and I will be right back," He touches her forehead. 

 Amber looks up at Tyler affectionately but doesn't bother looking my way. It's like she is disregarding everything I have done for her the last few days. 

 "We'll be here with her," Phyllis touches Tyler's arm. "Right, Flynt?"

 "Actually, I was going to catch up with Henry," He replies.

 "I'll be fine, Dad," Amber whispers.

 Amber still hasn't even looked my way. It's making me angry for some reason. 

 "Bye," I say to her. Her eyes flash my way for a second before returning to Tyler. I let out an annoyed growl and stormed out of the room. 

 "Skylar," Tyler calls after me. He catches up, "What's wrong?"

 "I have spent the last three days or so at her side and-"I trail off.

 "And?" Tyler smirks. 

 "She won't even look at me," I say. 

	We continue down the hall and hear a commotion. I watch Ethan burst into the hospital with a bleeding Savannah in his arms. I gasp at her state.

	"Savannah," I call her, "What the fuck happened?"

	"The son of bitch raping her," Ethan exclaims. "I need help!" He shouts.

	"Take her into emergency," Dr. Stevens points.

	"Where is Oliver?" I ask.

	"Last I saw, my dad was beating the shit out of him," Ethan says while running into the emergency room.

	I am torn about whether to stay and check on Savannah or find my father. My brother moves towards the door, and I follow him. 

	'Savannah will be okay,' Pollux speaks up. 'You need to focus on your mate.'

	'She hates me,' I grumble.

	'Who's fault is that?' Pollux fires back.

	We get outside just as Dad is walking up with Alpha Martin. "Dad," I call to him.

	"Yeah, Richard told me," He sighs. 

	"Is Oliver dead?" I demand to know.

	"Not yet," Dad snorts.

	I watch as Savannah's mother runs by with my mother and sister. I am tempted to find Oliver and finish what Richard started. 

	"What are we going to do about Timmons?" Tyler asks.

	Dad looks at Alpha Martin, "You want to tell them, Henry?"

	"Let's go someplace private," Alpha Martin suggests.

	We all file back into the building and return to the room where we found out the truth about Amber. I sit in a heap on a chair while my twin paces.

	"Shadow Winds has been investigating Timmons and the Dark Knights pack for some time now," Alpha Martin explains.

	"They are scumbags," Flynt blurts out. 

	"Why would they want Amber?" Tyler asks.

	Flynt and Alpha Martin exchanged a silent conversation. "We aren't entirely sure yet," Alpha Martin responds. "But we are about to take them down."

	"About to?" I spat. "We were there. They treat their pack members like shit."

	"We are aware of that, Skylar," Alpha Martin gives me a stern look. " But we have to do this right. Excuse me. I have to call my son." He pats my shoulder and nods at Flynt before walking away.

	"Are they going to do something about Alpha Timmons?" Tyler yells. "He tried to take our mate."

	"Calm down, Tyler," Dad assures him. "When Henry Martin says he will take care of something. He takes care of it. Alright?"

	I let out a sigh and look back at the hospital. Mom rushes up to us with tears in her eyes. "Mom."

	"How is Amber?" She asks.

	"She's fine," I respond. "Savannah?"

	Mom presses her lips together, "They are still working on her." She sniffles, "Juli and I were the ones that heard her screaming."

	"He was really trying to rape her?" I ask as rage wells up in me.

	"Not trying, Skylar," She responds. 

	"Motherfucker!" I roar and ball up my fists. I start towards the Cells. "I am going to fucking kill that Oliver, son of a bitch!"

	"Skylar," Dad growls and grabs my arm.

	I growl back and try to pull my arm from his vice-like grip, "Dad!"

	"Stand down," He orders me. "Oliver isn't going to hurt Savannah anymore. But you need to focus on your mate."

	"She's not my mate!" I scream.

	"Keep denying her, son," Dad says with a stern look in his blue eyes. 			 "Keep denying her, and you will never become king or alpha of anything." 

	"What?" I breathe out.

	Dad shakes his head and turns away.

	"Dad?" Tyler speaks up.

	"I have some things to take care of," he says and walks away.

	"Dad?" I shout, but he ignores me. "Mom?"

	She takes a deep breath, "Go be with Amber."

	"Mom, did you hear what Dad said?" I ask.

	She nods.

	"And?"

	"You will have to get him to discuss it with you boys," She mutters.

	"Amber isn't my mate, Mom," I complain.

	"She is your mate, Skylar. And the more you deny her, the more pain you will feel," She touches my cheek. "I can see it in your eyes."

	I breathe heavily as it occurs to me that she is right. I hate to admit it. But my mother is right. 

	"It will be okay," Mom says softly.

	"Mom," Corie shouts from behind us. "Juli needs you."

	"I have to go talk to Juli," Mom smiles softly and brushes past us.

	Tyler and I stand momentarily, wondering what to do, "Now what?" I shrug.

	"Let's go check on Amber," He responds.

	"Fine," I grumble and follow my brother into the building. 

	We enter the room, and Amber sits up while her grandmother tries to feed her jello. She cringes at the orange cube.

	"Come on dear," Phyllis shoves it towards her mouth. "Eat up."

	Amber smiles slightly at Tyler as we enter. She makes no effort to look at me. I sigh loudly enough to startle her. "What's your problem?" Amber glares at me.

	I say nothing and sit in a chair on the opposite side of the room. 

	Tyler sits by the bed and strokes her arm. "See, you matter to me."

	Amber looks down, "I'm sorry I said that. I know you are trying, Tyler."

	"We both are," Tyler nods at me.

	Phyllis sets the jello down, "I'll leave you three alone to talk." She leans down and whispers something in Amber's ear.

	"Grandma," Amber complains.

	Phyllis gives her a look before exiting the room.

	Tyler picks up the jello and tries to feed it to Amber. She pushes it away, "I can feed myself." 

	"Here comes the airplane," Tyler laughs while waving the spoon in front of Amber's face.

	Amber rolls her eyes and lets him feed her. I watch them for a moment and shake my head. "What?" Amber snarls.

	I say nothing to her.

	Tyler sighs and sets the jello down, "How are you feeling?" He asks.

	"Like I got hit by a truck. The pain sucks," she explains. "I hate being stuck in here."

	"Maybe you should stop putting yourself in danger," I blurt out.

	"Excuse me?" Amber glares at me. "I don't keep putting myself in danger."

	"Yes, you do," I yell at her. "If you hadn't run out of here like a spoiled child, then you wouldn't have reinjured yourself," I stand up as I yell.

	"I was scared about what my grandmother just said," Amber cries out. "Everything I knew about my life suddenly changed."

	"Will you two stop," Tyler complains.

	"You could have been an adult about it," I argue. "You could have stayed and talked."

	Amber lets out a dry laugh, "Like you want to talk. From day one, you have made it clear how little I matter to you."

	"I have been at your side for three days helping you heal," I state. 

	"So? I still don't matter to you," She screams. "I am nothing to you. And you are nothing to me."

	My temper threatens to boil over, "That's not true!" I scream loud enough to shake the walls. "You are not nothing to me." 

	"Fuck you!" Amber yells.

	"Stop it!" Tyler yells at both of us.

	"You don't care about me, Skylar. I get it. I wish I wasn't forced to come here. My life was fine until you two showed up and ruined it."

	"I care about you, Amber! I wouldn't be in this godforsaken hospital room if I didn't care. I could be with the mate I chose. But instead, I am here with you!"

	"What is going on in here?" Dr. Stevens appears in the doorway. 

	"Nothing," I scowl and storm out of the room. 

	"Skylar," Tyler calls after me. "Skylar," He grabs my shoulder.

	"Leave me alone, Tyler. Just leave me alone," I smack his hand away. 

He takes a deep breath and releases me. "I need to think," I say and walk down the hall. 

	"What was that all about?" Mom says. She is standing in front of me with Corie.

	I shake my head and brush past her. I pass by a room and see Savannah sitting in bed. We stare at each other for a moment. "Can I come in?" I ask her.

	She slowly nods. 

	I cringe, looking at how swollen her face is. It is almost unrecognizable. She has slash marks on her arms and neck. "He did a real number on you."

	Savannah sniffles. "I hate him."

	"I am so sorry this happened to you. I should have been there for you. I am you mate," I approach the bed and notice Juli sitting beside it, asleep.

	"Don't mind my mother," Savannah chuckles dryly. "She could sleep through a volcanic eruption." She fiddles with her hands and hisses. "I am not your mate, Skylar," she finally says.

	"Yes, you are," I argue. "We chose each other. We didn't have the moon bitch force us to be together."

	"Skylar," Savannah shakes her head. "The Moon Goddess pairs us with our mates for a reason."

	"What reason does she have for pairing you with a rapist?" I nearly yell.

	Savannah jumps, "I'm sure there is a reason."

	"Yeah, the bitch is a psycho or something," I look her up and down. "My gods."

	"Look, Skylar. You need to accept Amber. She is your fated mate," She says as a tear falls down her cheek. "I love you, but- "

	"But what? That should be enough," I yell, waking her mother.

	"What's going on?" Juli mumbles. She narrows her eyes at me, "Skylar, why are you yelling at my daughter?"

	"I'm not," I respond.

	"She needs rest," Juli rises from her seat to usher me out of the room. 

	"No, wait," I protest, but Juli is persistent.

	"Skylar," Ethan shows up in the doorway. "You need to leave my sister alone."

	I look at Savannah, and she is sobbing, "Savannah?"

	"Go," she says to me. "Just go."

	With a growl, I push past Ethan. My feet take me down the hall back to Amber's room. She and Tyler are watching TV. She glances at me but says nothing. I walk to the side of the bed and sit beside her.

	"I like this show," I say as I notice they are watching an old episode of Home Improvement.

	"I do, too," Amber nods.

	I turn my attention to the TV. Minutes later, I have my hand over hers. The tingles from the contact makes me shudder.

	'Small steps,' Pollux whispers.

	"Thank you," Amber says, and I assume she is talking to Tyler. "Skylar," She squeezes my hand.

	I glance at her, "What?"

	"Thank you," she says with a soft smile.

	I return the smile and look into her eyes, "You have beautiful eyes," I remark before looking away.
