Dangerous Games

Amber

 

 The twins are on my heels as I rush out of the game room. 

 “You are our mate,” Skylar hisses.

 I turn to face him, “You have made it abundantly clear that I am nothing to you.” 

 Skylar shoves me hard against the wall and presses his body against me. I struggle to get away from him while Tyler stands there.

 “Always the coward, Tyler,” I say to him.

 “Skylar,” Tyler tries to pull his twin off me.

 Skylar grabs my chin and forces me to look at him, “You are our mate. So, we are allowed to do what we want with you.”

 “Fuck you,” I spit in his face and punch him. Skylar lets go of my chin. I am able to wiggle out from under him, but he is quick to grab me and pin me again. I try to knee him in the nuts, but he presses a leg against mine.

 He raises his hand like he wants to hit me. 

 “Don’t hit her,” Tyler grabs Skylar’s hand.

 Skylar lowers his hand and uses it to grab my chin, “Oh, I won’t hit you. I will find other ways to hurt you.”’

 “I hate you,” I hiss.

 “Feeling it mutual, sweetheart. But that doesn’t mean that you do not turn me on. We,” He gestures to Tyler, “will find a use for you, mate.” He leans and inhales, “God, you smell so good,” He traces a finger down my cheek, “So beautiful.”

 I can feel him getting hard as he is pressed against me.

 “Sky,” Tyler tries to pull Skylar off me again. 

 With a growl, I am released, but Skylar keeps a hold on my wrist, “Stay away from Cal Walker,” He hisses in my ear before releasing me and walking away.

 Tyler lingers for a moment, but I refuse to look at him. “I don’t agree with Skylar,” He touches my back.

 “You have said that” I mumble, glancing back at him. For a moment, I feel for Tyler. He is looking at me with sadness in his eyes.

 “I want you,” He confesses and tries to grab my wrist.

 I back away from him, “I don’t want you, Tyler. I don’t want anything to do with either of you. The moment I can reject both of you and not cause a war-, “I trail off. 

 Tyler frowns and looks away from me.

 “I’ll do my thing, and your two do your thing. There is no need to try and pretend there is anything between us,” I walk away from him.

 “I love you,” I hear him whisper, but I refuse to look back.

 Lilith is whimpering in my head.

 ‘These are the mates you insisted I find. These are the men I am stuck with. How is that right?’ I lecture her.

 ‘Pollux and Castor disagree with the twins. They want us. It's always the wolves that get punished for their human’s actions,’ She explains.

 ‘I am rejecting them, Lilith. I won’t apologize for that. I can’t do this,’ I say as I walk outside. I find a bench and sit. I bury my head in my hands and let the tears fall. I hate crying. A warrior shouldn’t be crying. The scent of a strong perfume makes me look up.

 Savannah approaches me and holds out a tissue. I look her up and down. She is wearing a tight pair of jeans and a crop top. Her blonde hair is braided nicely and resting on her shoulder. 

 I take the tissue, “Thank you.”

 She sits beside me, “I know who you are.”

 “Really?” I say, and then wipe and blow my nose.

 “You are their mate, their fated mate,” She breathes out. “Figures you would be beautiful.”

 I can’t help but softly smile, “You are beautiful too, Savannah.”

 “I don’t hate you,” She blurts out. “I wanted to,” She laughs.

 I lift an eyebrow at her.

 “Sorry,” she shakes her head. “Look, I have known Tyler and Skylar my whole life. My brother is Tyler’s best friend. Ethan will be the next beta, which I’m sure you already know.”

 I nod as I listen to her. 

 “I always loved them,” she says, looking me up and down. “I did dream about being the Luna of this pack from a young age. Doesn’t every girl?”

 I shrug and shake my head, “Not really. But then the Luna of Shadow Winds is my aunt.”

 “Oh,” She laughs. “Anyways, Skylar wasn’t always such an- “

 “Asshole,” I blurt out.

 Savannah snorts, “Yeah. He is charming and nice when you get to know him. And Tyler has always been a sweetheart.”

 “Why are you telling me all of this? You are the one they want,” I look away from her.

 She sighs heavily, “They used to spend a lot of time with their Uncle Carlton, the alpha’s brother.”

 “Alpha Victor told me about him,” I respond.

 “He lost his fated mate. She up and left him. Carlton was left to raise his son. So, it made him bitter about the mate bond,” She explains. “And he passed that off to the twins. For a while, I agreed with them. But then-“She pauses and touches her head. “My wolf, Aja, wants her mate. Her fated mate, not the twins.”

 I glance at her, “It’s annoying, isn’t it? My wolf pushed me to find them,” I gesture to the house. “I didn’t want a mate. I had plans for my life, and they didn’t include a mate. My sister found her mate and gave up medical school. She now has four pups and two more on the way.”

 “Wow,” Savannah snorts. “I can’t imagine that many pups.”

 “I mean, I love my niece and nephews, but-“I shudder.

 “I get what you mean. I like hanging out with some of my friends who have pups,” She continues. “I love pups so much I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher.”

 “Then why aren’t you working towards it?” I wonder.

 “Because” She sighs. “I’m going, to be honest with you. I am still striving to be their Luna. If they choose to be with you, I won’t stop them. But if they don’t- “

 “Don’t worry about it, Savannah. I doubt they will reject you for me, especially Skylar. I don’t want them either. The sooner I can reject them and not cause a war, the better. I’ll just go back to Shadow Winds and work to become part of the Elite Squad.”

 “The more Skylar resists the bond, the angrier he gets. And Tyler is caught in the middle. I think in the end that all of us will suffer,” She concludes. “I hope we can be friends despite everything,” She says and stands up.

 “I hope so too. And I won’t be mad at you if I have to suffer the pain of the infidelity of my mates.”

 Savannah looks down, “I won’t stand here and pretend to feel guilty should I choose to have sex with them. But lately, neither have the same passion, and I know why. I believe in the end, the three of you will end up together.”

 “Oh, Savannah,” I sigh. “I don’t- “

 “Deny it all you want, Amber. But deep down, you know I am right,” She smiles at me.

 “I hope you find your mate and are happy. But I also hope you get to go to school to become a kindergarten teacher. You sound like you would be an awesome teacher.”

 She pats my shoulder, “Maybe we can go shopping one day or something. We’ll bring Corie and some other girls.”

 “That sounds nice. I know I don’t come off as girly, but I like shopping and maybe a manicure,” I respond.

 “It’s a date,” She grins. “Talk to you later?”

 “Sure,” I say, and she walks away. I remain on the bench for a few minutes before returning to the packhouse. On the way in, I pass Cal. He smiles at me, and I can't help but smile back.

 “How are you doing?” He asks while touching my arm. 

 “As well as I can do, trapped in hell,” I respond.

 “You and the twins are rather volatile, aren’t you?” He steps closer to me. 

 His scent is like leather, making me shudder, “You could say that. I’m not supposed to be near you.”

 “Hmm, that’s too bad,” Cal leans in to sniff my neck. “I wish to the goddess that you were my mate. I would treat you right,” He traces his fingers up and down my arm.

 Lilith growls in my head, but I ignore her.

 Cal leans close to my lips, and I don’t pull back. “Do you want to come to my house later for dinner and maybe a movie?” He smirks.

 “Just dinner and a movie?” I clarify.

 “Maybe more,” He chuckles.

 “You know how dangerous this is, right?” I ask.

 “I live for danger, Amber,” Cal responds as he brushes my lips with his.

 No sparks spread through my body, but he still turns me on as I look into his light blue eyes, “Danger is my middle name.”

 “Really?” Cal chuckles and leans in closer.

 “Callen!” Cole calls, forcing Cal to pull back. “Callen Walker!”

 “Dad,” Cal looks at his father with narrowed eyes.

 “I need to talk to you again,” Cole growls.

 Cal huffs, “Anyways,” he hands me a piece of paper. “Come to my house later if you want. I’ll be alone.”

 “Callen,” Cole repeats.

 “Coming, Father,” Cal drawls sarcastically and slinks away from me.

 I sigh and open the note. It has a phone number and an address. I know going to Cal’s house is a bad idea, but I don’t care at this point. If the twins want to hurt me by being with Savannah, I can play their game.

 I head up to my room and plop on the couch. I spend a few hours watching TV and talking to my family and friends. There is a knock on the door, and I answer it to Luna Sheila.

 “Hello, Amber,” She pops her head to look around.

 I am watching Bob’s Burgers as she steps in.

 “How is it going?” She asks.

 I shrug.

 “I heard you and the twins had a blow-up earlier,” She sighs.

 “It is what it is,” I mumble. “I am just biding my time till I can leave.”

 “You are their true Luna, Amber,” She mutters.

 “I don’t feel it, Luna Sheila,” I mention.

 “Anyways, I came here to invite you to dinner. Victor and I would still like to officially welcome you to the pack,” She smiles softly.

 “I have plans,” I blurt out, remembering Cal’s note.

 “Really?” She asks.

 “Some of the warriors are going to hang out,” I lie to her face.

 “Oh, well, perhaps another night. But soon, okay? We want you to feel welcome here,” She pats my arm.

 “Okay,” I put on a fake smile.

 She sighs and looks at my clothes, still piled up on the ottoman, before leaving the room.

 I close the door, but not before I catch a glimpse of Tyler. He smiles at me, and I slam the door. I watch TV a little longer before taking a shower and putting on a pair of nice jeans and my favorite blouse. It’s silky with flowers and butterflies on it. I leave my hair cascading down my shoulders and put on light makeup. “Nice,” I say as I admire myself in the mirror.

 Lilith is fuming in my head. She knows I didn’t dress up for the twins. 

 I leave the room, and the twins walk down the hall with Savannah. Skylar sneers at me. 

 “Where are you going dressed like that?” He hisses.

 “None of your fucking business,” I snort and try to walk past him.

 Skylar grabs my arm, “You better not be going to Cal.”

 “So, what if I am?” I hiss back.

 Skylar gets in my face. His hot breath fans over me, and I must resist its effect on me. “That’s what I thought,” He laughs and lets me go. “Come on, Savannah,” He grabs her arm and pulls her toward his room.

 She mouths sorry to me before smiling at Skylar. 

 Tyler looks at me sadly before following his brother.

 Part of me feels terrible that Tyler is caught in the middle, but he made his bed. He could have stood up to his twin. I take a deep breath before rushing down the stairs and out of the packhouse. It takes me a few minutes to find Cal’s house. 

 It’s a modest house about a mile away from the packhouse. It sits on a street with other similar looking houses. The door opens, and Cal stands in the doorway. He is wearing a white tank top with a leather jacket over it and worn jeans. He looks so hot standing there leaning against the door frame.

 “Hey, beautiful,” He greets me. “Welcome to Casa Walker.”

 I step onto the porch, “Do you live here by yourself?”

 “No,” He chuckles. “I still live with my dad.”

 “And your mother?” I wonder.

 “She died a few years ago,” He sighs and ushers me into the house.

 “I’m sorry to hear that. Mine died too,” I say as I look around the house. There are pictures on the wall. I see Cal standing with Cole and two women. “Is that your mom?” I point to one.

 “Yeah,” He replies. “I also have a little sister, Danielle. She is out with her boyfriend tonight.”

 “And your dad?” I lift an eyebrow.

 “He is out too,” Cal pulls me toward the living room.

 There is a big comfy couch in front of a lovely fireplace with a big TV.

 “I ordered some pizza. I just got pepperoni,” He explains.

 “I love pizza. Any kind.” I grin.

 “Good,” He laughs as we sit down. “What do you want to watch?”

 “Oh, I don’t know,” I shrug.

 He picks up a remote and starts flipping through the channels on the TV. “What are your favorite shows?”

 “I like Bob’s Burgers,” I mention.

 “Really?” Cal laughs. “I love that show, “he says as he puts it on. “What season?”

 “Oh, I have seen all of them at least ten times. So, it doesn’t matter,” I respond.

 Lilith starts to pace in my head while whining and whimpering. I shake my head.

 “What’s wrong?” Cal asks as he places his arm around my shoulders.

 Pain shoots through my body as I get glimpses of the twins making out and fondling Savannah. I cry out and hold my hands to my chest.

 “Amber?” Cal sits up and looks at me with concern.

 I cry out again as the pain becomes too much, “They are having sex with her,” I mutter.

 “What?” Cal growls. 

 I breathe deeply, and the pain subsides, “I think I am alright.”

 “Are you sure?” He leans in toward me. 

 I nod and look into his lustful eyes. I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t help but want to get back at Skylar and Tyler. I wrap my arm around him and pull him towards me. Our lips connect, and for a moment, everything is alright. 

 Lilith howls angrily in my head, and then more pain radiates from my heart. I cry out as Cal presses me against the couch.

 “Cal, stop,” I whisper as the pain gets worse. Cal stops, and my vision blurs as I look up at him.

 “Amber?” He speaks.

 “I-“ I say and then blackout.
